Public Librarian Licensure
Graduates applying for public librarian licensure through the State Library of North Carolina should consult their web page for the application form, rules, and contact information.
School Librarian Licensure
**Please note: Library Science faculty cannot sign the paperwork needed for your licensure. Please follow the directions below from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction to obtain your license.
- Go to www.dpi.state.nc.us (North Carolina Public Schools)
- Go to Department drop down menu - choose Licensure
- Scroll down and click on NCDPI Online Licensure System
- Click on NCDPI Registration to create a new online account
ASU recommends that you wait 6-10 weeks after graduation to apply for licensure in order to ensure that your degree has been posted to your transcripts by the Office of the Registrar.
***You must complete the online application within 30 days from the time you start the process or your application will be automatically deleted.
***You must make sure your transcripts indicate your new (or updated) degree before attaching them to the online application process.
